Honestly, this method started with my own life falling apart. After my divorce, I hit a real low point. And what made it so confusing, almost maddening, was that I couldn't understand how it happened. I'm a neuroscientist. I'm intelligent. I'm high-functioning. How did I end up here? How was I, someone who understood the brain professionally, so completely consumed by fear, pain, and patterns I couldn't seem to break?

That question sent me on a journey that's now almost ten years long and still continuing. I went deep into meditation, Buddhism, yoga, Vedic traditions, chakras, and modern spirituality; everything I could find on the eastern side of wellness. And then I started cross-referencing all of it with what neuroscience was telling us about how the brain actually works. The fear response. Emotional memory. Subconscious pattern recognition. How the body holds what the mind hasn't processed.

What emerged from all of that became the Dr. Funk Method.

The Heart of the Method

At the core of everything I teach is something I believe deeply; something that goes beyond neuroscience, beyond technique, beyond method. Underneath all the triggers, all the fear, all the patterns we get stuck in - there is love. Not romantic love. Something purer than that. A fundamental energy that exists in every single person, waiting to be drawn out.

I think of fear and love as opposites. When we're triggered, fear takes over. It narrows our perception, fills in the gaps with worst-case predictions, and makes us forget who we really are. The work, the real work, is learning to come back to that deeper place. Back to the love that was always there.

That's what the Dr. Funk Method is really about. Neuroscience explains the "how". The love is the "why". ❤️

My Background

I hold a Ph.D. from the University of Queensland in Australia and have spent over a decade working in neurophysiology and spine medicine. I continue to research both western and eastern approaches to wellness, because I believe the deepest healing happens at the intersection of both.

I'm also a neuroscientist who has been triggered, spiraled, replayed conversations at 2 AM and questioned everything about herself. So, when I teach this method, I'm not teaching from a distance. I'm teaching from experience.

What I Help You Do

  • Understand why you get triggered, and what your brain is actually doing when it happens
  • Recognize that getting triggered doesn't mean something is wrong with you; it means your subconscious is remembering old fears
  • Notice fear-based interpretations for what they are: protection, not truth
  • Find the pause between activation and reaction, where conscious choice begins
  • Come back to yourself gently, repeatedly, with compassion ❤️

This is healing that is grounded and real.

This is healing you can practice every day.

The Core Truths of the

Dr Funk Method

The Dr. Funk Method is a neuroscience-informed emotional awareness framework built around three compassionate movements: Awareness → Realization → Choice

Awareness

You can't heal what you're not aware of. The first step isn't changing how you feel, it's learning to notice what's actually happening in your mind and body. The Dr. Funk Method starts here, with the compassionate practice of observation: seeing thoughts and emotions without immediately fusing with them.

Realization

Something shifts when awareness meets understanding. A realization lands, not forced, not manufactured, but felt. "This is fear talking, not truth." That moment is where a triggered thought stops feeling like certainty and starts feeling like a signal. This is where everything changes.

Choice

From awareness and realization, conscious choice becomes possible. Not perfectly, not always, but with growing gentleness and consistency. The Dr. Funk Method is built on repetition over perfection: each time you interrupt an automatic pattern with awareness, you are gently and literally retraining your brain.

Being Triggered Does Not Mean You’re Broken

Every trigger, every spiral, every moment you replayed a conversation at midnight, wondering what someone really meant; that's not weakness. That's not something wrong with you. That's your brain's alarm system doing exactly what it was designed to do: protect you.

The Dr. Funk Method doesn't ask you to silence that alarm or push through it. It gently teaches you to hear it differently. To notice activation without becoming it. To recognize a fear-based thought without treating it as certainty. To meet yourself with compassion in the middle of the storm.

There is nothing wrong with you. There never was. Healing isn't perfection. It's awareness practiced again and again, with kindness, until conscious choice becomes your new default
